Dart Energy’s move to plug drill holes should lead to CSG licence cancellation

Fullerton-Cove

MEDIA RELEASE - 7 July 2014

The Greens NSW mining spokesperson Jeremy Buckingham today called on Resources Minister Anthony Roberts to cancel the Petroleum Exploration Licence 458 after Dart Energy announced it would plug its existing coal seam gas exploration wells as it abandoned the Fullerton Cove gas project.

“Now that Dart Energy have clearly abandoned their plans and are finalising their departure from Fullerton Cove, the Resources Minister should give the community certainty by cancelling the exploration licence ,” said Greens MP Jeremy Buckingham.

“Dart Energy’s departure from both Sydney and Fullerton Cove show that it is not possible to drill for coal seam gas without broad community support.  The concept of a social licence is not only important, but it is very real,” he said.
